Writing Company respect your privacy. This includes our related
operations such as Discover Writing Press and any other web sites we may
operate in conjunction with this site.
Our online store is protected by
128 bit encryption ( secure server ) so that prying eyes can never
interfere with your confidence in using your credit card to make
purchases.
We hate spam (unsolicited
commercial email) as much as you do. How many spams have you
recently received which claim you "opted in" to receive spam
from one of their "marketing partners". Baloney! We
don't have any "spam marketing partners" and we never sell,
loan, or distribute the email addresses of anyone who writes to us in any
manner whatsoever..
While we do not presently have a
newsletter or other bulk email system, we may wish to do something along
that line in the future, so if you receive an unsolicited email from us
somewhere down the road, rest assured it will be merely an introduction
and invitation to receive future mailings. And, whatever we do, you
will always have the opportunity to opt out of any future mailings.
Our web server runs on a robust
FreeBSD (UNIX) operating system, utilizing the Apache server software
which is the standard of the industry. This software automatically
accumulates vast quantities of statistics concerning our connection with
the world wide web, including countries of origin of our visitors, how
many pages are viewed or images downloaded, etc. While we currently
don't use our "web stats" for anything, we may occasionally view
them to check popularity of certain pages or sections as an aid to
providing you with a better web experience. These stat files build
up very quickly, and are usually simply deleted at regular intervals to
avoid clogging up our server hard drive. Our web stats are never
shared with anyone.
If you make a submission for
publication to us, such as a Miss Foley Award, Student Contest entry, or a
question to the Ask Barry column, we will typically publish only your name
and school and/or home town - and never your email address or snail mail
address unless you specifically request it.
Our web site is viewable by
folks of all ages, and you will never find questionable language or
inappropriate commentary on any of our web pages.
